1. The title of my yearbook was "Lucky Bag".
2. The school that the yearbook was from was United States Naval Academy
3. Some thematic elements that I noticed throughout the book were the same colors, a line across all the pages in the same spot, same fonts for both the titles and text and same format of the spread.
4. There were 10 sections in my book.
5. My favorite spread was the "masqueraders Present, The Belle's Stratagem" because it stood since it was acting at a Naval school and all the photos contained lots of emotion.
6. Yes, they have an index in the very back of the book.
7. Yes, there are photos of groups for clubs and organizations and such.
8. Yes, there is a Table of Contents at the beginning of the book and a more specific one at the beginning of each new section they listed in the front of the book.
9. By guessing, there are around 4,200 people by looking at the index.
10. I think that this school is in the state of Maryland.

Peer Review: Magazine Cover
Click here to view their blog and magazine cover :)
1. Mulberry by Olivia W.
2. I like how dramatic the photo is and how it can match with all the words on the cover. I also loved how the words were on a non-distracting part and the image and wording worked together.
3. The only thing I would suggest is to change the lighting because you can tell that she used flash and in my opinion, if you don't have to use flash, then don't.
4. I picked this because it stood out from all the others I looked at. It captures emotion and shows almost like a vibe of mystery.
5. There is a bar code.
6. Yes, the bar code gives it a more magazine feel.
7. I knew it was a self-portrait because I know Olivia. :)
Peer Review: Prompt Shoot
Click here for link to blog for their prompt shoot :)
1. My favorite photo was "The End". It was very creative and I could've never thought of that. I like how it shows a lot of emotion such as sadness because the little creature died but kind of cute in a weird because it's like a little a funeral or grave for a bug.
2. My least favorite was the "Pose" because I feel like although you can tell what is going on in the picture and it's known by the viewer that someone else is taking a picture, it feels almost limited to it's full potential. I feel like more emotion could be expressed at a different angle.
3. a) I love how every single photo is creative. While looking at everyone else's photos, I didn't see any like hers. She thought outside the box a lot.
b) I also like how much emotion is expressed in every photo. Like the "Pose" shows creativity. "The End" shows sadness. Also "Footprints" shows mystery and abandonment.
4. An area that she could improve on is applying more rules of photography to one photo. All her photos have at least two rules and all of her photos are really good but as a challenge, she could try to apply more rules.
5. The best portrayed one is "Footprints" because of the way they just hang there in the tree, in my eyes, shows almost like an abandonment. The black and white effect adds even more emotion by adding almost like a mysterious feeling.
6. The one that was not the best portrayed was "Pose" because as I said earlier, it kind of limited the emotion that could it contain and I think she could've included more of the subject in the frame. But it is still a great photo.

The things that I saw in these photos were old organisms, most of them being a sort of tree, in their natural habitat. Their age varied from 2,000 to 700,000 years.
I learned that there are still things that old still on our earth. I thought there were maybe like 3000 year old things but there were some things that even went up to 700,000! For me, that is completely mind-blowing.
a) I picked this photo because I was curious as to what it was and wanted to look at it in more depth. I also think it's quite interesting to look at.
b) I saw two big rules. One of them being repetition because there are a lot of the same organisms in one area. I also saw depth of field because you can see the foreground and background.
c) Rachel Sussman took this photo along with all the other photos.

I looked at a video that was a collage of many time lapses of Rio. It varied from things like the sunset, the crowded beaches, clothes flapping in the wind to a river flowing. It captured the true busy life and beauty of the city.
I personally didn't learn much from this video but it reminded me that life moves on no matter what happens and it could be fast paced and as much as it could slow you down, there is also a beauty in that and it is up to you to see that beauty.
a) In that video, I saw many short time lapses of the busy and beautiful life of Rio. Each time lapse was only a couple seconds, but when all put it together, it ended up being a minute or two.
b) Joe Capra was the creator/ photographer for this time lapse video.
c) There was a story but it was not very obvious and it was more weaved into each clip. In my opinion, it was life is very fast paced but you still need to stop and see the beauty.
d) As I said earlier, I learned you just need to stop and see the beauty and simply absorb it.

I looked at a website with six things that the author considered everyone should know how to do. In all of these, they looked very intriguing and they were not something you could capture simply by taking a photo.
I learned many cool ways to enhance my photos and make them a lot more interesting.
a) I picked this photo because for the past year I seen photographers and bloggers post this style of photo and I have constantly wanted to learn how to do it because it fascinated me a lot.
b) Although it is kind of hard to find rules in this photo, I was able to find balance (simply because it is all in the middle) and viewpoint (the angle is what makes this photo so interesting).
c) This photo was taken by Alexandre Duret-Lutz.

I looked at a series of photos of staircases, but not just any stairs. These were all spiral staircases and the way the photographer angled the photos caused almost an illusion looking photo.
I learned that simplest things can be photographed in a certain way and the result can be very intriguing and fascinating to look at.
a) I chose this photo because you would think the circular spiral staircase would look more cool than a more geometric, square looking staircase but this proves that to be wrong. This photo looks like something a child would look at and just stare at because of the type of illusion it creates.
b) The absolute biggest rule of photography in this photo is leading lines. The way that the lines of the stairs leads to the next floor is how the illusion is created.
c) The photography who took this series of photos is Christian Richter.

The category I chose to look at was the marine photographs because I have always been interested in that sort of thing. All of the photos have the subject of a sea creature or person.
I always knew that technology had allowed us to take pictures underwater but I didn't know they were that advanced and it is quite cool how well we could capture an image almost anywhere at this point.
a) I chose this photo because I had always been obsessed with the ocean since a very young age and in my eyes this photo represents exploring the secrets and unfamiliarity of the ocean.
b) Some photography rules evident in this photo are framing (the way the water line and rocks outline her) and simplicity (the background behind her is just blue making her standout)
c) The photographer who took this was Eric Volto.

First Post of 2015
P A R T 1
I like this photo because at first when you look at it you would think it is very harsh rain or something along those lines but after i read the caption, I learned it was in fact hail. This is quite shocking and very interesting because you would think since it's not cold because they are at the beach swimming so how is it hailing. The whole concept of it dramatically hailing in the summer is quite interesting.
I like this picture because honestly, who wouldn't. It captures a lot of emotion with all the smiling and the happiness just radiates out of everyone. Also includes a lot of celebrities that everyone likes. Also selfies were the thing of 2014 so it was very iconic in the celebrity world.

I chose this photo because it was very fascinating and beautiful. The way it has both the light created by man (the fireworks) and the light by nature (the moon) were both in the same picture is quite significant in my eyes. I was like it because it triggers memories of the fireworks I was able to see in London this New Years Eve.
P A R T 2
Best Song: "Home" by Jack Johnson
I chose this song because not only is it by Jack Johnson, one of my favorite artists, who is a great person and musician but it is a good song. It is very well written and unlike the rest of music these days that give off bad messages, this song gives off a very positive vibe. Whenever I am in a bad mood, I can just listen to this song and it puts me in a better mood because of the message and the well written song with amazing lyrics, voice and acoustics. In general, this song is very amazing.
Best Movie: Divergent
I chose Divergent because everything about that movie was great. The original books, actors, acting and everything was well thought out. Personally that had always been one of my favorite book series and when the first movie came out, I was very happy that the scenes of the book were all very similar to the movie for the most part. Although there were some things that were not the same, I found that some scenes in the movie could line up exactly to the same exact scene in the book.
Biggest News Story: Ebola
In my opinion, Ebola was the biggest news story and the reason I chose this is I heard about the other important news stories but for my generation, this was the biggest. While going on all different kinds of social media, all I saw for days and weeks were people worrying about Ebola. The very first day it became viral to our society, I had many people come up to me the next day and ask me "did you hear about ebola?" and we discussed it in both social studies and biology. Although the other news stories were big, this one happened to be the biggest in my generation along with the ALS ice bucket challenge.
Most Important Person: Beyonce
As it silly as it may sound, Beyonce is an important person and played an important role in 2014. After being popular many years ago, everyone assumed her fame kind of faded away. Everyone was quite surprised when she came back with a new album and came back stronger than before. She is able to step on stage and captivate everyone in the room no matter who they are with her talented voice that sold to many with her album that broke records.
Best Entertainment Story: ''Coke Put Your Name on the Label''
I chose this story because it entertains me very as to how it could go viral for simply putting your name on a plastic bottle. It also makes me happy because people can become happy with the smallest of things in life. I shall be a party pooper and say I did in fact learn something from this craze for personalized sodas. I learned anyone can find the smallest of things and this small thing is enough to make you happy.
P A R T 3
1. My break was very special because I was able to go to London. Not only was I able to go with my family but the marching band and we had a once in a lifetime opportunity of marching in the New Years Parade there which most people in marching band cannot experience. It was one of the best weeks of my life because I was doing what I was doing what I love most, band and traveling, with some of my closest friends for a week.
2. I personally do not set New Years Resolutions or believe in them because I believe you do not need a new year to set goals for yourself and you should start whenever you want to start your goals and start now but I have a lot of resolutions this year but my two main ones are less procrastination because this will lead to many other things such as more sleep, less stress and better grades. Also I want to be a better person this year. Not that I'm a bad person but I want to appreciate more things, do more volunteer work and be healthier.
3. I am looking forward to new memories this year. In fact, not all of them have to be good because I can learn and build off the bad ones. I look forward to new friendships, laughs and memories. I look forward to 2015 as another to grow, learn and discover who I am.
