1. My reaction to this was shock and interest. I wondered how he did it and thought it s cool. I wondered if it was an effect on the camera or edited on the computer.
2. It's hard to tell but I think he used an editing software after he took the photos or photoshop.
3. Some good buildings for this style of photos are the Statue of Liberty, Frost Bank Tower or the Capital. We may not have easy access to the Statue of Liberty but we could get the other two just by going downtown.

Photoshoot Preview
1. The places I would like to take pictures are a science classes doing a science experiment, in the gym where a sport or cheerleading could be going on, band or art.
2. I would like to take pictures in the band hall, gym, art room, a debate class, or an elective class.
3. A good basic to good photography is have a broad mindset and follow the rules of composition. Be creative and try new things that may not work because it's better to try something out and not have it work than not try at all because you could be missing a great photo opportunity. Include key things like patience, good lighting and an open mind.
Favorite Academic Photo
The photo I chose is the picture of a girl dropping pink paint and drops splattering everywhere.
1. I chose this photo because it's really interesting and I loved how it was very focused on the paint and not the girl in the background and everything jus looks frown in time.
2. Some rules of photography are simplicity because the background is simple and not distracting. It's also balance because there's an equal amount of the subject/ paint on both sides. You could also qualify it as avoiding mergers because the main point doesn't go off the photo at all and it's all towards the center so that you can understand what's going on around it.

The Story
I believe this one shows the most story. You can tell just by the surroundings that its a group thing and one can assume it's community work and picking up trash because of the trash in her hand. IT shows a story that the found people today care in my opinion.
Filling the Frame
I think this one contains the most interesting content. It has balance, avoids mergers (didn't cut off any of the people), has an interesting angle and it's focused on the subject because the background is very simple. It also has an interesting subject and it's fun to look at.
Action and Emotion
I believe this one shows the action/emotion. You can tell the story is a bunch of kids getting together for one goal which is help the community and others. Also, the emotions all clearly shown by the kids who are determined and the homeless people on the opposite side are grateful, appreciative and happy.

Photo Ethics
Most unethical: The two photos were combined but one was the soldier motioning towards everyone and not just the man like in the manipulated photo. The other photo was him with his hand down and the man standing. This is, in my opinion, is the most unethical because it looks like the soldier is doing bad to the people but he wasn't doing anything too bad to them, at least as what we could tell in the photo.
Least unethical: The thing that was changed about this photo was the mountains were moved closer together. I don't this could've offended anyone because it was used to make the cover prettier and this hasn't altered much and it's almost unnoticeable to everyone.
Photo Manipulation and Ethics
Photoshop can be used can be used in good ways, but if used incorrectly, things can go very wrong. A simple switch that is unnoticed by the public just so the photo looks better, can strike back badly. For example, a rocket launch is failed so more rockets are photoshopped into the photo so that the rocket launch looks successful or two women are edited out of the cabinet ministers photo so that the cabinet looks like all men. Both these examples are terribly wrong to do.
These examples are very unethical because these photos could possibly make history in some peoples opinions and could be important to them, but if altered then that effects the truth and it's basically lying in a photo, which hopefully in most people's opinions, it's unethical.

Post Shoot Reflection
1. What challenge I had while taking the pictures was probably being creative with metal. I ended not being able to find a way creative way to express it and took the picture almost everyone seemed to take which is just metal.
2. I think my biggest one that I focused on was focus. In my photo of the flowers and the metal represented focus a lot because I didn't use focus then the photos would not be as interesting to look at and would take away the appeal.
3. If I Were to change anything, I would make the metal railing enforce the rule of thirds. Also, maybe for the flower of the photo I would enforce simplicity by trying to have other plants in the background instead of a building.
4. Some things I would've done the same are I would've still kept the flower photo almost the same, because I love when things are really close and the background is blurred. Also I would've still done a silhouette with the squares, I just wouldv'e ported it differently.
6. I would like to back and shoot this because it didn't involve shooting people, but more of the settings around you which I enjoy. I also think the topics were fun because you could interpret them in many different ways.

I really loved you square photo because had bright colts, it was simple and appealing to the eye. On all of your photos, they had great angles that varied. The only thing I would suggest is to try to be more creative with metal because I know a lot of people took that same photo. Other than that, it's great!

The Falling Man Reaction
When I first saw the photo and articles of the falling man, I was shocked. It scares me to think that people were willing to jump and have almost full guarantee that they wouldn't make it alive. There was probably more of chance of surviving if they tried to go down the building. But the people who ended up jumping, would have gathered get the suffering over and just end everything without the pain which is the part that scares me the most.
9/11 6 Rules of Composition
This represents rule of thirds because of the twin towers which are on the right side. It makes the picture more interesting to look at because the eye naturally moves around around more when its off centered.
This picture was the most obvious for framing because the partial wall around the firefighter. Also its framing because it's all black thats framing color so the eye naturally will focus on the color.
I chose this picture for simplicity because there is nothing in the background. The main focus is the buildings, explosion and it's obvious what the obvious what the subject is and your eyes go straight to it.
I chose this photo for leading lines because both the water and the ladder are leading to the firefighters. Also the lines are somewhat diagonal which is more appealing to the eye than straight because the lines covers more area so you naturally look at more of the picture.
I chose this photo for balance because it almost looks like a mirror image. There is the same amount of interesting things on both sides such as the fountain, the names and buildings.
This shows a bad example of avoiding mergers because of the bar between the two peoples heads. When I first glanced at this, I almost thought their heads were connected.

National Geographic
I chose this photo because it fascinated me and made me say "woah". It's also a very cool photo because of the same color throughout the photo and it is equal with the lines across the photo. It just represents how simple nature can be but how beautiful it is at the same time and it's just a really natural, pretty picture.
If I were to photograph anything in my world, I would definitely go to downtown Austin. I would go there because there is lots of art and action because of the interesting people and shops downtown, graffiti, and landmarks such as town lake.
Touching People
1. I don't dislike this photo shoot because it's unique, interesting and creative, but I also don't like it because it is honestly kind of creepy.
2. I think I would say no unless I knew the background information because in my opinion, it's a very creepy idea and interesting but I would not personally be a part of it.
3. An idea similar to this is go out in public and ask a group of people to make a funny pose or face.
4. Yes, I liked these photos because they are fun to look at and most of them have very interesting backgrounds and are in good quality.

Top 40 Photos
I chose this photo because I could tell it would be about peace because of the symbolism of the flower and that drew me towards the photo and I had always been drawn towards the "flower power" idea. I like the composition of the photo because of the way they set up the camera so that you could see all the guns and soldiers lined up and the fear on her face. I believe the reason this made the top 40 is because this photo symbolizes the flower power idea as it says in the caption. Photographer: Marc Riboud
I chose this photo because I love animals and I was drawn towards it because it shows a special bonding level of humans and animals. I like how in the composition of the photo, it shows the damage that the fire did in the background, which in my opinion adds to the affect of the photo. The reason I believe this made the top 40 is because as I said earlier, it shows a special bond between animals and humans and how both rely on each other in different ways. Photographer: Mark Pardew

I picked this photo because it was very emotional and made me very emotional seeing family bonding and it means a lot because if this ever happened to me I would feel the exact same way. In the composition of the photo, it shows this all happened in public because of the people just casually walking by and I think that adds more to the effect and emotion. This made the Top 40 in my opinion because this is an event that happens a lot in America or anywhere and I think it shows how important family is to people no matter what. Warmup
1. I liked it because I feel like the first time they tried it, it was an accident and based off that photo, they took all the other pictures.
2. It took me a second to realize what it was until I looked at a little longer.
3. I think it would be fun to try something unique like this.

Great Black and White Photographers Pt. 2
The person I chose to research more in depth was Minor White. White was born on July 9th, 1908 in Minneapolis Minnesota. He went to school at Columbia University and University of Minnesota. He worked as a primary teacher at CSFA but his main focus was obviously photography. White did write multiple books and one of them was "The New Zone System Manual". White died June 25, 1976
The Camera
1. In a dark room, a tiny hole is created in one wall. Light is focused through the hole and the image appears upside down, on the opposite wall and this is known as camera obscura.
2. The 17th century camera was updated by perfecting the understanding optics and the making of glass lenses. This made the camera more improved than before thanks to Isaac Newton and Christian Huygens.
3. In the 1830s, Niepce added film to the camera which was much more modern at this point in time. During this time, a camera was a glass lens, dark box and film.
4. Niepce's invention still applies to the camera we use today. They both have light pass through the film, into the camera, and expose the film.
5. Now days, we use an electronic sensor called a Ccd instead of using old, plastic film like they did back then.
6. For auto, the camera completely controls flash and exposure. Unlike auto, in program mode, you can control the flash mode and exposure and a few other camera settings.
7. Portait mode is used to blur out the background and focus on the subject only. You can adjust this by using the aperture settings.
8. Sports mode is when you try to freeze motion or fast movement in a photo. It can be used for anything that moves like sports, running, jumping, waves, etc. It's used by using the fastest shutter speed possible on the camera.
9. You should half-press before taking a picture because it will help the camera adjust to settings and you have more control over focus and a faster camera response.
10. This symbol mean there is no flash on. A reason you may not want to use it is because when you use natural light and not flash, the photo is usually more dramatic.
11. This symbol means auto flash. This symbol is enabled if the camera thinks there needs to be more light for the photo.
12. If there is too much light the photo will be very washed out.
13. If there is not enough light the photo will be very dark.
14. A stop is a relative change in the brightness of light and is used in every aspect of photography.
15. The new planet with two suns is one stop brighter.
16. The new planet with four suns is two stops brighter.
17. The longer shutter you have, the more light is let in.
18. The shorter shutter you have, the less light is let in.
19. The aperture controls the amount of light let in and can relate to the pupil of a human eye.
20. The way you can control the amount of light coming through, is adjusting the f-stop number and the smaller f-stop's number, the larger the opening, and the larger the opening, the more light is let through.

First Day Photos
I like this photo because it's bright and colorful from the sky and plants around the subject of the photo. The reason I think this is a good photo is even though, for most pictures the subject shouldn't be centered but for this picture is works perfectly. Also they are not posing in the picture and it's natural looking poses.
(best)
I don't like this photo it doesn't look like it's the best quality possible. Plus the fire hydrant is kind of off since it stands out but not in a good way. And the centering is kind of weird because it's almost centered but it's not so it looks strange to me.
