The Big Day Video Analysis

The story starts by a man driving intensely and looks as if he's running late and shows a bride getting ready and a man sitting with her and they both check the time and look nervous and look as if they are waiting for someone. You get the idea they are waiting on the stressed man driving. Then the driving man keeps getting stuck in places and he gets frustrated. He finally pulls in front of the church and runs in. When the man frantically runs through the doors, the bride looks at him as she is getting married.

Who: the stressed man driving
What: arrives late to a wedding
When: on the day of an important wedding
Where: a small church in the rural area
Why: all we know is he is late
How: bc things keep him from arriving on time

The opening is man driving on a curving road in a rural and cloudy area. The man driving wipes sweat from his forehead nervously. The next scene is a woman in a wedding dress smiles as women fix her dress. The car speeds by quickly again through the winding road. Another older man sitting in the chair, watches the bride getting ready. She looks at her ring and looks out the window and both men look down at their watches. The man driving gets stuck behind a car but speeds past them frantically. He also gets stuck behind a train and gets extremely frustrated as the church door shuts. He quickly pulls in front of the church and runs in and a groom and the bride are married and both give him a sympathetic look. The viewer assumes throughout the whole video that the man is the groom who is late to his own wedding but when we realize he is not getting married, it leaves you in suspense. Some ideas are he thought he was getting married, he's a groomsman or wants to stop the wedding.

S T O R Y ( W I T H   Q U O T E S )

The big day finally had come for Rachel Greene; she was getting married. However Chandler Bing, Rachel's best friend, was very late to the wedding. He speeded through the rainy weather through the rural surroundings in order to arrive to the small church on time. The reason Chandler arrived not-so-fashionably late was all the impediments that slowed him down.
This predicament caused both Chandler and Rachel lots of stress but she had to continue the wedding. When Chandler finally arrived, he frantically ran in on the vows as Rachel sympathetically looked at him.
Many emotions ran through Jeffrey's head as he drove for a long time.
"I felt like it had been hours of driving and the whole time, the only thing I felt was pure stress because I was missing my best friend's important day and that would be heartbreaking for both of us if I did not show up," Bing said.
The reason for this late arrival was because many things kept him from getting there.
“There were so many distractions such as trains, slow cars and bad weather,” Bing said.
However, Rachel was able to handle it a little more calmly.
"At first I was very nervous, but I knew he would never miss it and even if he didn't end up showing up, he would never do it on purpose. Also worst case scenario, I would still have everyone else who mattered so I would not be alone," Greene said.
The audience however was not so happy about someone bursting in late to the wedding.
“I was actually quite offended someone was rude enough to run in and interrupt this extremely important life changing event happening,” Rachel’s mom said.

In the end, the wedding continued on as it was before and Rachel and Chandler were both satisfied with his presence.

Final Exam Review

1. I watched and read that iMovie is a program that applies a collage photos and videos into a short clip. You can also apply fun effects, titles and settings. To start off, you can import footage from phones, cameras, the computer, etc. Once you are done editing, you can export the complete project and save it as an iMovie file or quick time file.

The only way you can use iMovie is through a Mac computer. There are three parts to the screen; the viewer, project library and project workspace. The way you can move your footage to the actual project is to simply drag it. When you first open iMovie, it gives you the option to make a movie or trailer. The trailer is a template where you enter footage but there are already music, titles and transitions and the movie is from scratch.

2. Because I am very familiar with iMovie, I already knew how to enter titles and effects, how to import videos and where to find everything. I also knew how to select specific footage and place it into the project.

3. I learned the name of the places to find things (ex. the viewer) and I also became a lot more comfortable how to export and change the file of the project. Before the lessons, I always thought it could only be an iMovie file.

4. The one thing I am concerned about is the story and if it will be interesting enough and the voiceover and if it fits perfectly with my photo story.

5. I am confident that I will have the photos in time and still have time to work on it and make it better. I am also confident the final project will be nicely edited.

6. The topic that I am thinking about is a plant growing, although that would be somewhat oring. My stronger idea is the story of my room because it gets really messy after about a week and all of a sudden gets really clean, therefore I think it would be somewhat funny and entertaining.

Final Student of the Month Story

In April, 2015, Bowie High School announced that Eric Calderon won the Student of the Month award.
Eric kept the image of a hard working, good student with amazing grades and good intentions. He also kept the mind set of high expectations and achieving the best of the best. The reason he was rewarded with this title was for his outstanding actions of rescuing lots of puppies and saving thirty people from a fire.
Freshman Eric Calderon’s reaction was very positive.
“I was in the middle of saving thirty more people so I had no reaction, but after it was cool,” said Eric Calderon.
Eric gave some advice that helped him keep pushing towards his goals even when faced with hardships.
“Do not consume pears on the daily because they are bad for you,” said Calderon.
People that Eric Calderon was close to started to act different.
“Everyone hates me because I always win Student of the Month.” said Calderon.
This was a big deal for the hard worker.
“Not every student gets it and only the best students like me get it so it’s a big deal,” said Calderon.
This award has opened up many exciting opportunities for Calderon.
“I’ll be able to become a professional fire fighter and I can save 30 more people now,” said Calderon.
Calderon explained his strong emotions about the award.
“Not at all do I think I deserve this award. I think I deserve a better award,” said Calderon.
The next Student of the Month will be announced in late May.

Portfolios

P O R T F O L I O   A N A L Y S I S

1. Photographer
Travis Haughton
Focus
Relationships Between People
Three Problems
a) wants to see more of the frame because they were too tight (not enough story)
b) all of the subject's emotions should be shown and not just a few of them
c) amount of pictures of children was too much much and redundant
Two Positive Statements
a) nice moments captured that don't look staged
b) the sports photos were unique and different
Impression
I like the details that the photographer focused on which made it stand out. And even though the photos of children were good, there should've been less photos of them so that the portfolio could have had more variety. In conclusion, I liked this portfolio but had room for improvement.

2. Photographer
Josh Birnbaum
Focus
Team Effort and Wheelchair Sports
Three Problems
a) nothing very emotional immediately made the viewer extremely interested
b) didn't capture the right moment at right time even if it was in the right spot
c) the focus or subject of the photo was not on the strongest points in the image
Two Positive Statements
a) fun photos that had the attention toward the middle
b) good lighting in most of the photos
Impression
Although his photos had interesting concepts, they were not focused on the right thing or captured the most interesting things. Therefore, I did not like this portfolio.

3. Photographer
Daryl Peveto
Focus
Peru and Seniors
Three Problems
a) very bad captions that did not match the photos what so ever
b) not interesting because nothing exciting is happening within the photos
c) unclear of what is happening as the subject in some of the photos
Two Positive Statements
a) good lighting in the right places and good balance
b) good senior photos if it were for some sort of commercial shoot
Impression
Most of the photos had lots of potential to become amazing photos but the photographer did not capture the right moments which caused the photos to lose their effect. This results in less interesting photos. So in conclusion, I didn't really like this portfolio.

W I N N E R   P O  R T F O L I O   A N A L Y S I S

Strengths
a) really creative usage of things in the frame of the photo
b) good positioning of camera which resulted in better understanding of subject
c) very strong and bold composition

Strengths (My Thoughts)
a) very good at capturing emotions
c) in the middle of the action
d) everyone's doing something

Weaknesses (My Thoughts)
a) some photos were too busy
b) too much/ not enough in the frame
c) not a variety of actions in portfolio

P R O C E S S   O F   D E C I S I O N

First the judges automatically eliminated the weaker portfolios and once those were narrowed down, they chose the one that has a good and repeated theme. If tied, the judges would choose the winning portfolio that has more strong photos.

A G R E E I N G   A N D   D I S A G R E E I N G   W I T H   T H E   J U D G E S

Agree
I agreed with the judges about the bobsled that it was good because it was unique and I had not seen a photo liked that. It had good usage of leading lines that gave the illusion of the direction that the subject was going. However, I also agreed with the fact that it was somewhat distracting with all of the blur that was in the photo.

Disagree
I disagree with the judges on the photo of the surfer falling from the big wave. They said it should've been taken slightly later as he's hitting the water but I liked the mid-air falling because it gave the idea of how big the wave was because it looked like he was floating. I also liked how there wasn't much happening around it so it made the photo simplistic and dramatic.

This shows detail because it highlights one small area of the house and emphasizes it eccentric details. It gives character house compared to a picture of the building because it shows the amount of effort and specific characteristics that make up the house.

L I G H T
This shows light because the focus and subject of the photo is the light reflecting onto the building. The light shows and represents the color and brightness of the house.

P A T T E R N S
This is pattern because what makes the photo interesting is the colorful dots that cover the wall and orange stripes compared to a plain, straight wall. The extreme repeated patterns presented adds character and definition to the building.

A N G L E S   A N D   S H A P E S
This shows angles and shapes because there is almost no boring shapes like squares, rectangles and 90 degree angles. The house is filled with circles, ovals and curves fill the space.

S U R R O U N D I N G S
This shows the surroundings because it is the exterior of the house which shows the area. It works because if it were inside then you could not see the area that surrounds the location of the building.

iPhone Photo Extra Credit

this shows what I learned because of rule of thirds and use of silhouettes :)

iPhone Camera Warm-up

2. Although, most photos look as if it was and could be taken with a phone, there were a few that made you question if it was even with a phone because of it's extremely high quality.

3. I think there are apps that help adjust brightness and enhance colors, as photoshop would do, most of it is all natural or "no filter". The same concept of not completely changing the photo and simply taking the photo applies to both the camera and phone.

4. a) Look at the world for creative things as you would with a camera to get the most of a landscape.
b) If you wanted to used the rule of thirds, put the settings of divided lines on.

7) I chose this because the idea of a house made of mainly boulders is quite intriguing. Also, as modern as our society is, the idea of using nature stills lives bounded secretly into our lives and this proves that. I also chose it because of it's creativity. I admire the creators/ owners for being able to pull this off.

It is instead a bunch of small houses all stacked randomly on each other. It also fascinates me how people can live in there because I would be scared that it would fall. In conclusion, I was drawn to choosing this because of how eccentric it is.
